The Pattersons are Back in Paris

We arrived at Paris CDG Airport this morning about 10:30 after a 10 hour flight.  Nobody could fall asleep on the plane.  Is that because the plane on the direct flight from SLC to CDG had been refurbished with leather seats and individual screens with tons of tempting movies?  I watched The Monuments Men and then tried to sleep but no luck.  Kelly and Kate had trouble, too.  I think we each got about one hour of sleep.

It was pretty sad leaving Kate's fiancé, Carter, behind at the airport in Salt Lake City.  She has been counting the hours since we arrived until Carter would be awake and they could Face Time on their iPhones.

We are cleaning the apartment, washing sheets, and getting ready to unpack.  Or rather I should say I am doing that.  Kelly has crashed on the couch.  I have already tripped the circuit breaker trying to wash sheets and dry others at the same time.  And the washer is so tiny it takes forever!  Only one sheet and maybe a towel thrown in can be washed at a time and it takes  1-1/2 hours.  I need to find a faster cycle.

The best thing about being back in the Paris apartment is that the kitchen was recently redone.  The cabinets are beautiful and there is a lot of cupboard space.  Here are some pictures of the kitchen:

Kate and I ran across the street to Carrefour City to get  a little lunch meat, cheese and butter to make baguette sandwiches.  And of course we had to buy Orangina.  She was too tired to go all the way to Leader Price on the rue Cler, where prices are cheaper, so we just picked up a few things.

There are red geraniums in our window boxes
We stopped at the White Bakery, our favorite, just a few doors down from the apartment for a fresh Campaillette to make our sandwiches.  Campaillettes have so much more flavor than baguettes.  Kate thought maybe the Campaillettes looked a little shorter than they used to be.  Or maybe we just don't remember.  But it was long enough for three sandwiches.

Poulet roti, emmenthal fromage, du buerre and Orangina
But being jet-lagged, we forgot the lettuce and tomatoes
We are hoping to stay up until 10 pm tonight to watch the US play Belgium in the World Cup.  Maybe with their naps Kelly and Kate will be able to do it.  I'm not so sure I will, though.  Allez les Etats-Unis!
