Marché Avenue Saxe

Thursday and Saturday are market days at the Marché Avenue Saxe behind the Ecole Militaire.  It is a 10 minute walk from our apartment.  We forgot to go on Thursday but we remembered today.  We wanted to buy fresh pasta for dinner tomorrow.  The grocery cart I took everywhere is no longer in the apartment--it must have worn out.  I am really missing it on days like today.  But I had Kelly to help me carry everything and we are only buying for three.
On the way to the market, we saw Andrew's Volvo station wagon-same vintage and color.
Andrew just got hired by the Sandy Fire Department so he was not able to come to Paris with us.  Now that he has a job, he plans to buy his dream truck and hand the 2000 Volvo wagon off to Kate.  He thinks it will be easier getting a girlfriend if he has a truck--although he says the Volvo is a safe car and girls do like that.  But to have to drive his mother's old wagon that is 14 years old?  Not cool (but at least it was free).
There are all kinds of fish and shellfish at the market.  As I walked away from taking the first picture, the woman called in French "Wait, wait.  I will pose for you!"  I saw one shopper holding a large crab in each of his hands, waiting to pay.

We bought white peaches, tomatoes, carrots with the stems, Roquefort cheese, and those big brown French eggs from this vendor.

I was tempted to buy some flowers for the dining room table but that seemed so extravagant.
We got a petit poulet--a little roasted chicken--and a barquette of potatoes to take home for lunch.  We also ran into Kate's roommate from her first semester at BYU--Alex--and her little sister.  They have been in Paris for three weeks.  It is a small world, even in Paris!

Here is the view on our way home from the market.  We never get tired of the Eiffel Tower.
