Another Rainy Sunday in Paris

At least we had one day of sunshine!  And we expect good weather at least the beginning of next week.  But we had a very rainy Sunday.  We went to church and then most went to Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle.  I took Kate home for a nap.

Have you heard of "No Shave November" when the guys don't shave?  Well the guys here have declared "No Shave Paris".  They are looking pretty scruffy.  I'm not so sure about this.

We made our fresh tagliatelle and ravioli from the market for dinner and it did not disappoint.  We also had fresh beans with melted emmental cheese on top and fresh cooked carrots.

You may wonder why the chairs are stacked behind the table.  They are antique chairs that are all broken and Kelly stacked them up to get them out of the way when he cleaned.
After dinner and more birthday cake, we decided to find out where the music we were hearing was coming from.  We went to the Champ de Mars and saw an orchestra further down rehearsing for tomorrow.  Tomorrow is Bastille Day and at 11 pm there will be fireworks at the Eiffel Tower with live music.
Of course it started raining on our way over.  So Sande decided this was perfect picture taking weather with umbrellas.  Here are a few of our shots.

It started raining so hard
they needed three umbrellas

Sande talked Kate Monson into doing a cartwheel--we heard she had been doing them when running with the guys and we wanted to see.  Pretty soon Kayla was joining in.

It was raining really hard so we were going to go back to the apartment when Sande had the idea to go see l'Eglise Madeleine and l'Opera.

We turned around and found one of my favorite views with the obelisk at Place de la Concorde, the National Assembly behind, and the dome of Les Invalides that contains Napoleon's tomb.

We walked from there to the Opera Garnier.  We actually got a little break from the rain and thought we caught of glimpse of some blue sky.

Across from the Opera is the Café de la Paix.  I bought small fruit bowls five years ago at the flea market that were originally from this café.  The name of the café and logo are on these bowls that we use most Sundays at home.

We came back to the apartment while the Kriegers went to the Arc de Triomphe.  They are trying to get Kayla to all the important sites since it is her first time in Paris.  Kelly and Quin wanted to watch the World Cup soccer game.
Tomorrow is supposed to be 72 and partly cloudy--perfect weather for watching the parade on the Champs-Elysees and fireworks at the Eiffel Tower.  We can't wait!
