Afternoon Tea, Shopping and Raclette

Kate has had a bit of a sore throat so we told her sleep in Wednesday.  After Kriegers had visited the Musée d'Orsay in the morning, Sande called to see if we were up for afternoon tea at Printemps, our favorite department store.
Up on the 6th floor is a beautiful stained glass dome.

And underneath the dome is a restaurant.  We remembered they have Angelina's hot chocolate and Kate was ready to go since we had been so disappointed the day before when we found workers renovating Angelina's on rue de Rivoli.  Kate chose Crème Brulée to go with her hot chocolate.

Sandy chose slices of pineapple cake and chocolate cake and I went for the molten chocolate cake with a thin cookie.

The hot chocolate is so dark and intense and very French.  So we had to walk that off.  We walked behind Printemps to the Gare St. Lazare.  This is the train station where you catch the train to Normandy or Monet's gardens at Giverny.  I had heard they had recently cleaned the clock sculpture in front and I wanted to see it.
Notice the blue sky--no rain since Sunday!

Later that day Sande and I went to Les Halles to check out the cooking shops.  I was looking for a good crêpe turner.  Sande and family had taken a macaron cooking class earlier in the week and she was searching for the fine colored sugar to sprinkle on top of the macarons.
La Bovida
La Bovida was one of our favorites from last time.  I found a nice crêpe turner and a cool carafe there.  They have a great Eiffel Tower cookie cutter.  I use mine for cookies and Eiffel Tower pancakes.

After wandering around the area for a bit, we finally found one of my favorite housewares shops.  Unfortunately, it was liquidating and going out of business.  Very sad.
We stepped inside la droguerie, which had all kinds of yarns and buttons and notions.  It is a fun shop.

From there we took the métro down to the Latin Quarter to meet everyone else for dinner.  We got bored waiting for them so Sande snapped a selfie.

Kayla had not tried Raclette so we decided that was the thing to do.  We had been to this restaurant on rue Saint Sevérin before and thought it had pretty good Raclette.  Spencer was a bit daring and instead of getting just the usual charcuterie, he ordered smoked duck.  He said it was good.  By the end, we were all pretty hot sitting by the cheese warmer.  But you can't come to Paris and not have Raclette!
