More Animals at the Salon de l'Agriculture

We went back to the Salon de l'Agriculture on Thursday with Kate and some of the students.  We looked at the animals again and found the cows from the region in southwestern France where we stayed for a month in 2009.  They are brown Limousin cows.  Kelly said when he would go running around Turenne, which was out in the country in the middle of nowhere, it would be so quiet that all he could hear were the cows chewing grass.  They were big gentle brown cows who paid no attention to Kelly running by.

We also saw these young men tying their Second Place ribbon around their bull.
This cow was trying to climb out of her stall and her owner had to put her back in her place.  He let that cow know who was boss.

Primroses and Cows

Some of the cows' stalls were even decorated with flowers and greenery. We all decided that the cows were our favorite animals at the Salon.
We also saw some cute piglets and baby lambs.  Kate didn't like the pigs at all.  She said they smelled the worst.  There were two black lambs and two white lambs running around the ring where their mothers were being judged.  When they ran, they hopped like rabbits and we couldn't stop laughing.  They weren't too bright, either.  The black ones would run up the little ramp to the platform where the sheep were judged and then they couldn't figure out how to get back down.

We were also able to see the horses this time.  We saw some being judged in the ring.

More to come on all the food at the Salon de l'Agriculture.
