Loire Valley-Chambord

Our last stop in the Loire Valley was Chambord.  It is just a "little" hunting lodge built by François I.

It is thought that the chateau was designed by Leonardo da Vinci just before he died in Amboise.  Unlike most chateaux, it is very symmetrical.  Despite the large fireplaces, it seemed they couldn't  keep the place warm--look at all those chimneys!

When we visited the chateau in 2005, we were able to rent row boats and paddle around the moat.  Unfortunately it was too early for that this time.  But we enjoyed seeing the interior of the chateau this trip.
That is it for our trip to the Loire Valley and the chateaux.  We are having so much fun with our students and can't believe we have only three weeks left in the program.  Time is flying!
