Nôtre Dame

Friday we went back to the old neighborhood near Boulevard Saint Germain where we stayed in 2018. We checked out the old apartment where we lived on the top two floors.

We lived on the floor with the long
balcony near the top and the floor above

We wanted to check out our old neighborhood bakery, la Boulangerie de la Tour by la Tour d'Argent, the fancy restaurant where we could not afford to eat. We had a buy a couple of palmiers-so yummy.

We also walked to the bridge across the street over the Seine to Île Saint Louis. We had been dreading this because we weren't so sure we were ready to see the devastation at Nôtre Dame.  When visitors arrived last time, we always brought them to this bridge to admire the back of Nôtre Dame. We also had a view of the towers from our apartment balcony.  Kate refused to even be in the picture.  It was too upsetting.

It was a very sad sight but good to see the towers still standing. We hope it can be restored to its former beauty.

  3. Every time we find a reason to be back in the old neighborhood we stop at that favorite bakery and get something. Usually a palmier or two. Theirs are the best!
