Snowy Sunday

We woke up Sunday morning and were surprised to find snow.  This was the view outside the living room window.  See the little cafe on the corner across the street where we ate New Year's Eve?  And the sign pointing to the Eiffel Tower?  We can see the top of the Eiffel Tower out our living room window.  Kate watches it sparkle at night through her bedroom window.  I couldn't see it through the snow, however.

Out in the suburbs they had a couple of inches of snow but we just had a dusting in Paris.  We were tempted to stay in our beds but soon found ourselves in the metro heading for church.  I thought it might be a little warmer because of the snow, but I soon found out otherwise.

Did you notice nobody else was crazy enough to be on the metro platform at 8:45 am on a snowy Sunday morning?  It kept snowing while we were in church.  It looked very pretty outside, but most people left their coats on inside.

Church is in a building that was a Hotel or mansion.  It is in one of the older parts of Paris and the building dates from the early 1600s.  There is a courtyard in the center.  I am standing in front of the Chapel-a long room along one side of the courtyard with 10 chairs across and an aisle down the middle.

It snowed again Wednesday night, and the girls in the suburbs say it has not melted at all out there.  It is so cold that the flower and produce markets have brought everything inside instead of spilling out onto the rue Cler.  Even the man selling oysters brought those inside, too.  At least the sky has been blue today.
