Notre Dame and La Tour Eiffel

Sunday after church I took care of one more thing on my bucket list.  We walked over to Île de la Cité to Notre Dame Cathedral to see the big Christmas Tree in front.  The sign said it was 20 meters tall--and it was huge!
Notre Dame has been cleaned since we were here last.  It was much whiter.  There was also a long line to get into the Cathedral--Kelly and Kate said it was longer than the line at Easter.  It reached all the way to the back of the Parvis in front of the Cathedral.  There must have been a special mass.  We decided to go inside on another day.

We actually saw the sun for the first time on Monday.  Blue sky peeked out from behind the clouds.  Kate said it was time to go back to the Eiffel Tower during the day before the rain came back so we walked on over.

Then we strolled over to Trocadero on the Right Bank and got a view from the other side.

At Trocadero they had the last day of a Village de Noël and ice skating.  There was a long line for the ice skating so we'll have to go back.  Kate is looking forward to the tourists leaving now the holidays are over.

On our walk home we ran into a couple of surprises  We thought we knew the neighborhood pretty well but we had never been down this side street.  We saw an interesting apartment building at the other end of the street so we took a little detour.  It seemed the plants and vines were growing right out of the building.
As we walked down, we saw movers moving people into an apartment.  I guess they don't have freight elevators, or perhaps they found a more direct route.  The movers loaded up a conveyor belt and sent the furnishings up to the second floor balcony.

Moving Day

We thought this looked like a pretty efficient way to handle a move.
Then we turned around and saw a great view at the other end of the street.  Paris never ceases to surprise us!
