La Roue de Paris

We have loved La Roue de Paris that goes up in the Place de la Concorde before Christmas.  I convinced Susan, who I guess is a bit afraid of heights, that we should all go and get a great view of the city.  Claire and I had been to the Orangerie earlier in the week and taken a few pictures in the rainy weather.

It was a beautiful clear afternoon for a ride on the ferris wheel and we felt it would be the perfect ending to their trip to Paris.  We were not disappointed!

The views were fantastic and it was fun identifying all the landmarks.  It's fun to see how everything is connected when you get a bird's eye view of Paris.

Aren't Claire and Sue Sue so cute?
Unfortunately, the current mayor of Paris thinks La Grande Roue de Paris spoils the look of the majestic Place de la Concorde.  The wheel will come down in May and will not go up again.
Since it was their last night in Paris, we had to try a variety of pastries.  We stopped at La Parisienne on the way home to pick out our favorites.  We did not hold back and chose six to try.

So many choices....

To finish up this post, below are a few more random pictures from Tom, Sue and Claire's visit.

Less than a block up the street from our apartment is the Paradis Latin Cabaret.  When Shauna and Todd visited, we discovered that this cabaret is a big deal.  The theatre was built by Gustav Eiffel and it is quite the tourist attraction.  And I thought you had to go up to Pigalle to see the cancan.  We have seen huge buses pull up and many seniors get out and hurry into the cabaret.  We've also seen our street closed down for VIP performances for the police or military.  The Paradis Latin even has a program where you can go learn the cancan for the afternoon.  We've been so intrigued!  But we haven't convinced anyone to go to the pricey shows-160 euros (dinner included).

We were sad to see everyone leave last Saturday morning.  Paris is always more fun with this crew.
